Tender Details
The project seeks to understand the opportunities for improving LGBTIQ+ inclusion in NSW Health facilities. It will be delivered in two main parts:
1) Through desktop research and literature review, the project will examine best practice and trends for LGBTIQ+ in health facilities both locally and globally, it will also examine best practise from other infrastructure sectors such as civic and recreational spaces, and educational institutions such as universities and schools.
2) Through engagement with LGBTIQ+ communities, the project will seek to understand the lived experiences of LGBTIQ+ communities in healthcare facilities and consumer identified opportunities and recommendations to improve inclusivity.
Based on the above, the project will make recommendations for LGBTIQ+ inclusion opportunities in NSW Health facilities. It is important to note the scope of this project is focused on how the physical environment and built infrastructure affects the experience of consumers and their sense of belonging and inclusion. The impacts of models of health care and interpersonal interactions between healthcare staff, consumers and carers is not the focus of this project.
It is also important to note that the planning and design of a health facility must be considered through multiple lenses, particularly safety of staff and patients, and the affordability and sustainability of the health system. Recommendations should be feasible and balanced given other critical design drivers.
