Provision of a Light Rail Flange-way Filler Solution

Transport for NSW invites submission of Proposals from suitably qualified organisations for the supply of a solution that will mitigate the risk to other road users such as cyclists, wheelchairs, baby strollers and similar pushchairs of the vehicles wheels becoming deflected or stuck, which in the case of a cyclist riding at speed, can cause the bicycle to stop or change direction suddenly & unexpectedly, which is what tragically occurred in Newcastle in 2019 causing the death of the rider.  Similarly, a wheelchair or baby stroller, if stuck in the Flange-way gap, could topple, which could injure the occupant and put them at risk of being struck by the light rail vehicle, which may not be able to stop in time.
