Tender Details

The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (the Department) is seeking to appoint a panel of solar Suppliers to supply and install grid-connected solar systems on residential rental properties to assist in the delivery of the ‘Solar Offer Trial’ under the ‘More efficient homes for low-income tenants’ Program.

The ‘More efficient homes for low income tenants’ Program is being developed by the NSW Government to complement the existing Energy Affordability Package. The program aims to improve the energy efficiency of low-income rental homes across NSW, lowering energy bills for tenants and reducing emissions while improving the energy performance of the private rental housing sector.

The program attempts to address the ‘split incentives’ barrier, which limits the energy efficiency of many private rental homes. The split incentive barrier refers to the fact that landlords are less likely to make energy-saving upgrades to rental properties as they do not directly benefit from the energy bill savings.
