Tender Details

"Department of Regional NSW - Commercial trading as the NSW Soil Conservation Service (herein referred to as SCS) has been engaged by its client – Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (Water Operations) (herein referred to as DPIE Water) to manage the refurbishment of seven flood pipe asset. DPIE Water identified these flood pipes as requiring refurbishment to maintain the structural integrity of the aging flood pipe infrastructure. This pipe infrastructure forms a network within the HVFMS designed to reduce the impact of flooding on communities in the Hunter Valley region. This engagement forms part of the Lower Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme (HVFMS) Maintenance Works Contract for the 2022/23 financial year. Refurbishment of these flood pipes is to be completed during the 2022-23 financial year and will be achieved by the design, supply and installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP) liners made from woven fibreglass reinforced plastic (resin) and cured with ultraviolet light (herein referred to as the liner) within the host pipe. The liner installation will have a minimum design life of fifty years. DPIE Water has identified the following pipes as requiring relining to maintain the structural integrity of the aging flood pipe infrastructure:

FP 5.680

FP 6.090

FP 7.230

FP 7.270

FP 7.290

FP 11.100

FP 11.110

Use of the CIPP liner is:

• lower cost than full pipe replacement;

• less disruptive to the community and the functioning of the HVFMS;

• less environmentally and socially risky (minimal construction time

more easily done outside of adverse weather or extreme

rains/flooding).

This pipe refurbishment work will help to ensure the flood pipe networks can continue to effectively divert surface water off the floodplain and ultimately lessen the effects of flooding on communities in the Hunter Valley."
