MAAS Digitisation Storage Solution - MAAS - IT 21/001

The Powerhouse is one of Australia’s oldest and most important cultural institutions. It is Australia’s only museum of applied arts and sciences with an exceptional collection of approximately 500,000 objects. The Powerhouse is undertaking significant renewal through the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta, expansion of Powerhouse Castle Hill, the digitisation of Powerhouse Collections, and the renewal of Powerhouse Ultimo.

To deliver this major renewal program, the Powerhouse is seeking a data storage solution and system to support our Collection Relocation and Digitisation Project.

The successful tenderer will be required to provide a hybrid storage solution (or an alternative in response to the brief) which consists of cloud based and on-premises storage to meet the project requirements, and ensure cost effective, future scalability.

The solution design must combine the best attributes of on-premises and cloud infrastructure. It will provide best in class performance, utilising existing system hardware/infrastructure and provide the Museum with the ability to forecast ongoing cost management. The successful tenderer will be required to design a solution that considers and includes the following:

•  Sustainable resource costs, most importantly for the high volume, high performance storage requirements.
• Cloud bursting into public cloud when the demand for computing capacity spikes provides cloud scaling advantages when needed.
• Ability to pivot our infrastructure needs between on-premises and cloud resources as required. This will support not only scaling but a need to change architecture to meet new application demands.
• Configuration with Powerhouse network, to ensure stored data is secure.
• Considers the existing network environment

• The Procurement (Enforceable Procurement Provisions) Direction 2019 applies to this procurement

• A government agency may conduct negotiations with suppliers regarding the procurement
