Tender Details

"Mining Exploration and Geoscience (MEG) currently holds a range of hard copy plans, notebooks and registers at a storage site operated by a third-party in Newcastle.

MEG requires that the hardcopy plans and documents (‘Materials’) be scanned and digitised into Tag Image File Format (TIFF) images and catalogued with appropriate metadata. TIFF images of plans must also be georeferenced for use in industry standard Geographic Information Systems (eg. ESRI, MapInfo, Google Earth).

This procurement calls for the scanning and compilation of metadata on the Materials and includes:

-Relocating the Materials to a site suitable for completion of the digitisation work.

-Restoration/ repair of the Materials to comply with NSW State Archives requirements for long term storage.

-Transporting the Materials to a final repository such as NSW State Archives or other long term storage.

There are a wide variety of plans which need to be scanned. Examples and estimated volumes are include in Attachment 1 with estimated volumes included. Some of the plans are very large and do not conform to standard document sizing. These plans are not suited to scanning using normal methods and may require more involved methods to achieve a final complete digital reproduction of the item."
