RIMS Replacement/Upgrade Project - P21-3220

A modernisation initiative intended to modernise Mining Exploration and Geoscience (MEG) information systems is underway.  The initiative is broad, with several key deliverables.  The program of work overall is designed to enable upgrade of an existing Oracle database from a version that will be unsupported after 2022, to a fully-supported version.

Several existing MEG information management systems that utilise the Oracle database will also be remediated and modernised as part of the initiative – this procurement activity relates to one of those systems, the Royalty Information Management System (RIMS).  The goal is to remove functionality used to support royalty management from the Oracle database entirely and build it on another platform used within MEG, ServiceNow.  ServiceNow is a key pillar of MEG’s information management stack, serving the needs of several business areas within MEG.

The entire initiative is time-critical, with the work program needing to conclude before December 2022.  Modernisation of RIMS needs to occur within the first half of 2022 to ensure timeframes for other work streams can be met."
