Tender Details
Goats on the National Parks and Reserves within Bourke Area compete with native animals for water, food and shelter. They are a major contributor to soil erosion and compaction and can have substantial impact on vegetation structure through overgrazing and on cultural heritage sites. They may also carry exotic diseases, especially footrot and ovine Johne’s disease.
Control of goat numbers by mustering is identified as a management action in the current Regional Pest Management Strategy (2012-17).
The removal of Feral goats (regardless of their commercial value) via mustering will be undertaken by contractors sourced via this RFT. The supplier, by mustering, will supplement the current pest control methods conducted by the Agency. Five (5) contracts will be awarded under this RFT (one service agreement per park/reserve within Bourke Area).
