Tender Details

The principle role of helicopter transport services is the carriage of medical crew in the performance of their duties, which may include but not be limited to pre-hospital missions involving scene landings at unprepared helicopter landing sites, and inter-hospital transfers of patients.

Other services include:
  • Rescue and emergency (primary mission) medical retrieval services. This may include both on land and over water hoist extractions by day and night, and/or water rescues which may or may not involve hoistings;
  • Helicopter transport for the purpose of carriage of patients between hospitals (secondary mission);
  • Helicopter transport as required by ASNSW in response to mass casualty events from disaster and terrorism activities. Inherent in this component is the establishment of one or more field operations bases;
  • Training flights for the purpose of meeting the ontractor's training and checking requirements and those of the ASNSW, both for the Contractor's operational crew and ASNSW medical crew;
  • Search and/or rescue missions in cooperation with such organisations as Police, Fire, SES, AMSAR and the Surf Life Saving Association;
  • Carriage of equipment on behalf of the ASNSW or its nominees; and
  • Helicopter operational co-ordination services including resolution of helicopter operational issues such as co-ordination of maintenance schedules, helipad location and lighting, operational practices and standards, flight path obstructions, Occupational Health and Safety issues, negotiations with Area Health Services, Local Government Authorities, Civil Aviation Safety Authority etc.

    The contract period is 7 years plus options for three one year extensions.
