Tender Details
The NSW Shellfish Program is operated by the NSW Food Authority to ensure that shellfish harvested for human consumption from NSW waters meet appropriate food safety standards. The program involves an expansive monitoring program that covers 28 shellfish aquaculture growing areas located along the entire length of the NSW coastline. To date each local shellfish program has been responsible for procuring their own biotoxin testing service. However, given the specialist nature of this service and the role that it plays in market access, industry has requested that the department undertake a procurement for biotoxin testing services on behalf of all 28 local shellfish programs. This procurement aims to meet the industry’s need for an accredited, cost-effective and responsive biotoxin testing service that is able to meet the requirements of current and future target markets. The service being sort is the quantitative analysis of 600-800 shellfish samples per year for the main biotoxin groups (PSP, ASP and DSP) via validated and accredited analytical methods.
