The Powerhouse is one of Australia’s oldest and most important cultural institutions. It is Australia’s only museum of applied arts and sciences with an exceptional collection of approximately 500,000 objects. The Powerhouse is undertaking significant renewal through the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta, the largest cultural infrastructure project in Australia since the Sydney Opera House. The renewal of the Powerhouse includes: Powerhouse Parramatta, expansion of Powerhouse Castle Hill, the digitisation and relocation of Powerhouse Collections and the establishment of the Ultimo Creative Industries Precinct.
To deliver this major renewal program, the Powerhouse is seeking to collaborate with a creative partner to develop a new visual identity that carries forward the legacy of the institution and reflects its contemporary ambitions. The creative partner will collaborate with the Powerhouse to develop an innovative visual communications approach that engages audiences and communities across a diverse range of cultural and social contexts. The strategy will include establishment of a conceptual and design approach; detailed development of communications material; digital assets; signage and way-finding systems.
