WaterNSW is responsible for managing water supply catchments, storages and conveyance systems to ensure a continuous supply of high quality raw water to its customers. These responsibilities require WATERNSW to carry out its water monitoring program and operate and maintain its sampling and hydrometric network to measure and monitor water quality and quantity throughout its state-wide catchment areas and in the areas downstream of its dams. To deliver its Water Monitoring Program in the Greater Sydney regions, a combination of in-house and contracted hydrometric services are adopted.
The monitoring is required for:
- early warning of risks
- reporting obligations for licences;
- operational requirements; and
- long term data analysis and catchment management.
The primary purpose of this Contract is to collect water samples for analysis and to operate and maintain hydrometric monitoring Sites. The Service Provider shall undertake all Services that are required to complete this Contract in its entirety.
Sampling involves collection of samples from streams, lakes, water delivery points, dam structures, groundwater wells and includes the measurement of field parameters within and outside WATERNSW’s Greater Sydney area of operation including the delivery of collected samples to the nominated locations for analysis.
Water monitoringincludes the operation and maintenance of assets such as rainfall stations, river stations, ALERT telemetry repeaters, thermistor chains, vertical profilers, pipeline water quality monitoring equipment, ground water boreholes, flow gauging, and delivery and management of associated quality-controlled data
