WaterNSW / Upper Canal Post - Mining Rehabilitation Works - 05298F31

 

The “Upper Canal” is a 120 years old infrastructure which conveys bulk water from Nepean and Avon Dams to Prospect Reservoir. The canal consists of open channels sections, tunnels, aqueducts and various other associated components such as sluice gates, drainage flumes etc.  Due to long wall mining operations in the vicinity of the Simpsons Creek Aqueduct there has been minor damage experienced at this location to the aqueduct infrastructure and the canal.

Rehabilitation works in the Upper Canal can only take place during the Upper Canal Routine Shutdown Periods. Refer to Section 12.3 of this RFT for the proposed shutdown periods.  

Under this Contract mine subsidence damage to the Upper Canal and the Simpsons Creek Aqueduct will be repaired and top of wall levels of the Upper canal upstream of the aqueduct re-instated to pre-subsidence levels.
