Tender Details
The CCCP first began as a trial at Manly Local Court in 2017. Following a positive evaluation and response to the pilot, therapy dogs are engaged by DCJ to provide services at up to 11 Local Courts under a 12-month funding agreement with options to extend, to the following Local Courts: Burwood, Campbelltown, Gosford, Goulburn, Lismore, Manly, Nowra, Orange, Sutherland, Taree and Wagga Wagga.
The Canine Court Companion Program in Local Courts requires therapy dogs and volunteer handlers to visit the publicly accessible areas of the court for approximately two hours each day with the aim of reducing any stress and anxiety associated with the court experience.
As part of the Program, therapy dogs and their handlers also play an important role in the safe rooms to help create a non threatening court environment for children, vulnerable witnesses and victims of domestic and family violence.
Suppliers are advised to note that guaranteed funding is currently only for service provision in the 11 Local Courts for a fixed period of one year with a funding level of $306,416.70 (excluding GST, per annum) commencing on 01 July 2023, with a further possibility of two (2) extension options of 12 months each.
