This proposed tender is for the new approach to market for Whole of Government Contract 622 Removal of Deceased Remains. The NSW Department of Justice is seeking for potential suppliers with the capacity and capability to deliver deceased removal services across NSW.
This proposed tender will be a single stage open request for tender.
The State Coroner has obligations in relation to the remains of a deceased person where there has been a reportable death under the Coroner’s Act 2009 and the functions apply until the remains are released by the Coroner to the family. The State Coroner in accordance with the Coroners Act 2009 requires that at all times deceased’s remains are treated with dignity and respect.
Whole of Government Contract 622 has been in place since 2012. The removal of deceased remains is an ongoing requirement for NSW Government. The Removal of Deceased Remains contract covers the provision of the following services:
• Local Removal
Conveyance of deceased persons from the place of death to the local morgue or other place on behalf of NSW State Coroner’s Court under the direction of the NSW Police Force.
• Long Haul Transfer
Conveyance of deceased persons to Glebe, Wollongong, Newcastle, or other places on behalf of NSW State Coroner's Court under the direction of the NSW Police Force.
