Tender Details
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is currently progressing a proposal to demolish and replace the existing overwater and land-based structures at “The Oyster Farm” located on Captain Cook Drive, Woolooware Bay. Concurrent with this, TfNSW is seeking to engage with potential tenants and operators, by way of a market sounding, to understand market capability, appetite and potential offerings for creation of a reimagined Woolooware Bay Aquaculture Precinct.
Oyster faming has operated from the site at Woolooware Bay for several decades and TfNSW together with the Department of Primary Industries (DPI Fisheries) want to continue to support the Aquaculture industry at the site.
Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Already, 54% of seafood consumed worldwide is produced through aquaculture. According to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in 2018 aquaculture in the Oceanic Region represented 12.7 percent of total fish production compared to the 46 percent world aquaculture contributed to global fish production.
A reimagined Woolooware Bay Aquaculture Precinct represents a unique opportunity to:
- Celebrate and share the history of this location as a valuable source of food;
- Increase aquaculture production and employment in the region to previous historic levels; and
- Support ongoing ecological and environmental research.·
TfNSW invites a wide-range of potential tenants and operators to register their interest to participate in this market sounding. This may include those engaged directly with aquaculture production of oysters, mussels, finfish as well as tourism, heritage, retail and food and beverage operators, who recognise the unique opportunity this location presents.
The market sounding will include individual discussions with interested parties and will be conducted in a manner that ensures:
• content we provide is consistent and accessible;
• the process will not detail any future tender process, but will rather seek feedback and information from the market in relation to the proposed opportunity; and
• the process is in full compliance with NSW Government and TfNSW procurement policies and overseen by a probity advisor.
The market engagement process is not part of any tender process and is not a request for a proposal to deliver services of any kind.
Information provided or discussed during market engagement will not in any way be taken into account or impact any future evaluation or award decision.
Participants in the market engagement acknowledge and agree that TfNSW will not be liable for any costs or expenses incurred as a result of its participation in this market engagement exercise.
