Tender Details

Tenders are invited to operate these ferries on the Clarence River northeast of Grafton. The Bluff Point vehicular ferry operates from Lawrence to Woodford Island. It is the busiest vehicular ferry in NSW and runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Ulmarra ferry runs between Ulmarra and Southgate from 6am to 11pm 365 days a year. The contracted work broadly consists of managing, providing labour and systems, operating and conducting the routine light maintenance on the vessels and the land-based fixtures. No fares are charged. The RTA provides the vessel, the land based fixtures (including employee amenities and, at Southgate, a Ferrymaster's cottage), all heavy maintenance and insurance (except Workers Compensation) for the operations.

Tenderers must comply with the NSW Governments Code of Practice for Procurement.

This is a Quality Assurance contract, the contractor is required to provide and adhere to a Quality Management System which includes OH&S, Environment Protection and Industrial Relations Systems. The RTA will periodically audit the systems and conduct surveillance on their operation.

Attendance to the pre-tender meeting is compulsory to submit a conforming tender. Tenderers purchasing the documents will be advised of the full details of the meeting.
