In accordance with its Private Network Distribution and Retail Exemptions, Sydney Trains on-sells electricity to occupants of premises located within or adjacent to its Private Distribution Network.

The occupants of the premises may be tenants of Sydney Trains or non-tenants. The nature of the businesses varies from small retail outlets to large industrial facilities. The premises may be on Sydney Trains’ land, e.g. kiosks at Sydney Trains’ or NSW Trains’ railway stations or industrial complexes located adjacent to the rail corridor. (Embedded Customer Network).

There are approximately 280 live customers, 342 meters, of which 20 interval meters are, The remaining 322 meters are manually read cumulative (basic) meters.

Sydney Trains relies on the optimisation of the revenues derived from the on-selling of its electricity to its Embedded Customer Network. As such, the proactive and effective management of this revenue is a critical activity.

As such Sydney Trains is seeking responses from the market with regards to the operations of its Embedded Electricity Customer Network with operations commencing on 1 March 2020.
