BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
Work is to be carried out within the area of Ballina, NSW, as shown in attached Ballina Salinity Investigation Report recommended works spreadsheets for Area1 Ballina Island, Area 2 West Ballina, Area 3 North Ballina, and Area 4 East Ballina (Refer Appendices – DVDs, Disc 1).
The works to be executed under this Contract shall consist of all work associated with the manufacture, supply, delivery to site, installation, and testing of acceptable sewer lining and repair systems for the specified sewer mains. The conduits to be rehabilitated are primarily Vitrified Clay gravity mains.
The sequence of works will be undertaken as follows:
1) Conduit Cleaning of all identified sewer lines, identified for repairs, in their entirety (The contractor is to confirm the adequacy of cleaning and root removal).
2) CCTV prior to patching and lining works. Contractor to submit formal advice on extent of patching / lining recommended complete with notice of any proposed change to specified extent of works.
3) Patching / PVC/Cured In place Lining (Lining or repairs shall not commence until a cleaned and prepared section has been approved for lining by the Principal’s Authorised Person, or delegate). Some sewer lines requiring a full liner (accesshole to accesshole) may need pre-patching prior to lining installation, depending on the technology proposed for the lining system. This requirement may result from apparent high infiltration rates to these sewer lines. These sewer lines, and location and number of anticipated spot repairs, are identified in Appendix – DVDs, Disc 1.
4) Junctions / Top Hats ( junction numbers are estimated in Appendix – DVDs, Disc 1).
5) Post lining CCTV to gauge the degree of success of the completed lining work.
6) Asset / Work-As-Executed drawing for each line showing all access holes, junctions, patches, etc.
The Contractor shall be fully responsible for all vehicular traffic control/diversion necessary at the site. All work shall be in accordance with A.S. 1742.3 (2002) Traffic Control Devices for Works on Roads. It is acknowledged that the initial tender will include an allowance for traffic management or control in the form of a provisional sum. Once the contractor, in accordance with the relevant authorities requirements, has assessed the level of traffic management required then a fee for this service will be negotiated in accordance with the Contract Conditions.

There will be a NON-Mandatory Pre-tender Meeting to be held at Ballina Shire Council on the 20th January 2009 at 10:00am.
