Mount Penang Parklands is a 156 hectare government-owned development near Gosford. The NSW
Government established the Festival Development Corporation (FDC) in November 1998 as a statutory
government authority under the Growth Centres (Development Corporations) Act 1974, to transform the
site into a vibrant and dynamic hub for the Central Coast region. The Corporation (now operating under
the Minister for Lands) is charged with the responsibility of promoting, coordinating, managing and
securing the economic development of the Mount Penang Parklands site in Kariong.
Current uses of the site are:
•
Commercial spaces for around 35 small businesses based in heritage cottages;
•
Sports precinct including sports field and an open air swimming pool;
•
A regular program of fairs and exhibitions with dedicated exhibition space;
•
Botanical gardens including 8 hectares of cascading waterway over twelve different garden
•
A horse riding academy; and
•
The NAISDA dance college.
