Expression of Interest from Contractors prequalified in the Civil Works and Specialty of Water Infrastructure category of the NSW Department of Services, Technology & Administration Contractor Prequalification and Best Practice Accreditation Scheme 2008-2010 are being invited to apply for selection for Burrendong Dam – Construction of Work Stage 1a Upgrade Works - Contract No: 0901983 EOI.
State Water Corporation is seeking to establish a panel of suitable Prequalified Contractors that wish to be considered for selection to tender for work at Burrendong Dam.
Background
State Water is NSW’s rural bulk water delivery corporation, annually delivering more than 5,500GL of water to regional NSW on average, along 7,000km of rivers. State Water manages and operates 20 dams and more than 280 weirs and regulators to deliver water for town water supplies, industry, irrigation, stock and domestic use, riparian and environmental flows. In accordance with water sharing plans, it delivers about 9,000GL of water for the environment.
Burrendong Dam is located on the upper reaches of the Macquarie River, immediately downstream of the confluence with the Cudgegong River in central-west NSW. The dam is an “Extreme” flood consequence category (FCC) dam and is on the SWC’s Dam Safety Upgrade Program (Phase 1) so as to enable it to meet current standards for acceptable flood capacity (AFC).
Apart from Burrendong Dam, State Water is also undertaking safety upgrades for Blowering, Keepit, Chaffey, Copeton, Split Rock and Wyangala.
The multi-stage upgrade of program for phase comprises of two main construction stages.
Stage 1A:
Crest raising of main dam embankment and commensurate of saddle dams B&C – Invite tenders in mid October, 2009;
The detailed designs for the stage 1A are being prepared by Department of Services Technology & Administration.
Stage 1B:
Upgrading of the existing spillway - Expression of Interest in mid – June, 2010.
Note: This EOI process is for Stage 1A works only. A separate EOI process is proposed for Stage 1B when designs become available in 2010
