The harvester will be used for on-farm and research station rice trials associated with the rice breeding program at Yanco Agricultural Institute in southern NSW.
It is critical that the machine be capable of completely threshing the rice panicles without damaging the grain. Rasp bar drums are not suitable for completely removing the grain especially in high soil moisture situations.
To minimise soil damage and maximise mobility the harvester should ideally be on tracks.
