State Water Corporation is seeking to establish a panel of suitable Prequalified Contractors that wish to be considered for selection to tender for work at Blowering Dam.
Background
State Water is NSW's rural bulk water delivery corporation, annually delivering more than 5,500GL of water to regional NSW on average, along 7,000km of rivers. State Water manages and operates 20 dams and more than 280 weirs and regulators to deliver water for town water supplies, industry, irrigation, stock and domestic use, riparian and environmental flows. In accordance with water sharing plans, it delivers about 9,000GL of water for the environment.Blowering Dam is one of the major dams in State Water's Portfolio. The dam, located on the Tumut River in southern NSW, has a storage capacity of 1,628,000ML and provides water for irrigation, town water supplies and the environment, and headwater for the 80MW Blowering Power Station. The dam does not meet the statutory requirements of the NSW Dams Safety Committee (DSC) and the Australian National Committee on Large Dams (ANCOLD) guidelines for extreme floods.
State Water has developed a two phase project to ensure the dam meets the required safety standards. A wide range of options that meet Phase 1 functional requirements were considered. The assessment indicated that the optimum solution for Phase 1 Works is:
- Construction of a 2 metre high parapet wall along the crest of the dam.
- Raising the training walls that lead flow into the spillway and the chute walls downstream to provide increased discharge capacity.
EOI responses from the following Contractors prequalified in the Civil Works category of the Department of Commerce Contractor Prequalification and Best Practice Accreditation Scheme 2008-2010 will ONLY be accepted.
