Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water / Completion of Car Park Extension - Blue Gum Hills Regional Park, Minmi - HN/HCA/0702

The Department of Environment & Climate Change is seeking tenders for completion of 18 car spaces, 2 bus parking spaces, turning circle and associated infrastructure to integrate the parking area into the existing car park and play areas

Blue Gum Hills Regional Park is approximately 14km west of Newcastle CBD and immediately south of the Minmi township on Minmi Road. To reach the park from the F3 is only 5 minutes, taking the West Wallsend turnoff, then left at the first roundabout to the Minmi township.

The Park is open to the public from the hours of 07:30 am to 20:00pm during daylight savings. The successful contractor will be provided with a key to gain access/egress from the park for after hours work if required. Visitors safety and access to park facilities will be considered during all works.

NB: THERE IS NO WATER OR ELECTRICITY ON SITE.
There is a water tank that is used for the toilet facilities. If this tank is used by the contractor, the tank will need to be filled regularly to ensure water is available for the facilities.

The car park extension was commenced in November 2006 and was stopped in December 2006 due to potential drainage issues on the site. After investigation by geotechnical engineers, the site has been found to be benign to subterranean drainage issues. The plans were reviewed by a civil engineer and upgraded to allow improved surface drainage and integration into the existing facilities on the site. The completion of the car park is required prior to Christmas holidays 2007.
