Tender Details
State Water Corporation manages a sub-program titled “Better Delivery of Environmental Water” that contributes to the NSWRivers and Environmental Restoration Program (RERP), supported by both Commonwealth and State funding. This encompasses a suite of activities including investigations and construction work on fish barriers, leading to recognition that the Macquarie valley presents substantial ecological and fish-passage issues that require attention.
Burrendong Dam Upgrade triggered provisions under Section 218 of the NSW Fisheries Management Act (1994), which empower the Minister for DPI to require provision of fish passage when impoundments are modified. Inter-departmental discussions under the Fishway Offset Process resulted in a decision that, rather than pursuing the option of a fishway at the dam, fish passage should be reinstated at Marebone Break and Gunningbar Regulator sites as an offset.
State Water engaged Public Works to undertake feasibility assessments of fishways at the above structures. Public Works completed the works, and their report has been provided with this RFT as background information.
The review of environmental factors (REF) is underway, and will be completed during the detailed design phase. The REF outcomes will be provided to the Consultant (successful tenderer) to ensure that the environmental recommendations are incorporated in the design by the Consultant.
The scope of this work is to undertake Detailed Design and Contract Documentation Services for the proposed vertical slot fish ladders at Marebone Break and Gunningbar Regulators as well as modification of the existing gates at Marebone Break Regulator by converting them into overshot gates.
These documents will enable State Water to call tenders, and finally award construction contract to build these fishways, and meet its requirements under the Fisheries Management Act
