State Water requires the development of a System model to enable a better understanding of the level of water security it is proposed that the entire system be modelled using a system model hydrology package. A better understanding of the system will be key to achieving desired measures to ensure the long term water security of the Scheme. This assessment will need to include an assessment of the impact of climate change on the security of supply to the urban communities and Delta Electricity.
The second component of the project will be to investigate options for increasing the security of the system. This will first involve the optimisation of the current storages and then the assessment of options to increase the supply system. A range of options have been identified by State Water and the major consumers and the consult will be required to assess these options to identify a preferred option based on a multi criteria analysis.
