Tender Details

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is providing an open briefing for industry on the upcoming digitalisation of competency cards for Concrete Grey Card (CGC) training.

The online briefing will be held at 12:05pm, Monday 22 January 2024. To register for the live briefing, click here.

Currently, concrete placement competency is required in the following TfNSW Specifications:

• TS 01733 (formerly B80) Concrete Work for Bridges

• TS 03270 (formerly R82) Lean Mix Concrete Subbase

• TS 03271 (formerly R83) Concrete Pavement Base

A valid Concrete Grey Card is required to carry out concrete placement on TfNSW projects.

The concrete placement competency is achieved by completing a Concrete Grey Card Training from one of the TfNSW Registered Presenters.

The Concrete Grey Card competency training is delivered in two streams, namely:

  1. Concrete Grey Card for Bridgeworks (CGC-BW)
  2. Concrete Grey Card for Rigid Pavements (CGC-RP)

Personnel carrying out concrete placement will need to have the required Concrete Grey Card training for the stream that is applicable to the work.

Once the concrete placement competency training and assessment is successfully completed, a virtual card is issued specific for the Concrete Grey Card training stream.

The Concrete Grey Card is valid for five years from date of issue. The card expiration date is reflected in the digital card.

Expired Concrete Grey Cards can be renewed after completing a Concrete Grey Card re-training corresponding to the relevant CGC training stream.

All existing physical Concrete Grey Cards will expire five years from CGC digital card system launch date (TBC).

Metro trains Australia (MTA), is engaged as the digital card service provider. MTA is the current service provider for Railway Industry Worker (RIW) competency card.
