The State Library of NSW has commenced a three year project to create electronic records for collection material currently only accessible through paper based indexes and finding aids. The whole collection consists of approx 120,000 titles (165,000 vols) of which the tender contains 54,000 volumes mainly published overseas between 1830 and 1960 with serial and monographs interfilled.

This tender descibes the services required by the Library to provide a MARC record for each of 54,000 monographs (Stage 2) held in the S/DS collection.

The S/DS sequence is a large octavo collection acquired before 1960 and labelled with the prefix S or DS (interfiled). The collection is largely non-fiction in English with a small percentage in other languages, mainly French or German.
