NSW Department of Communities and Justice / Request for Tender for Provision of Sheriff's Ballistic Vests - DJ2018-3

The Office of the Sheriff of NSW has a uniformed staff of law enforcement officers consisting of over 280 personnel carrying out court security services at approximately 160 court locations within NSW. NSW Sheriff's Officers also conduct field enforcement/law enforcement duties across the state of NSW.

NSW Sheriff's Officers operate within an ever changing security environment and are subject to the potential of increasing threats.

The Office of the Sheriff of NSW is upgrading its Personal Protective Equipment which NSW Sheriff's Officers have access to. The procurement of Ballistic Vests is to provide NSW Sheriff's Officers with a level of protection to reduce the chance of serious injury or death as a result of expose to a potential threat of ballistic and/or edged weapons. 

The Office of the Sheriff of NSW, during the period of 2016-2017 carried out a trial on the viability of Ballistic Vests for NSW Sheriff's Officers. It was determined that the supply and issue of Ballistic Vests can benefit Sheriff Officer safety, in the event of a scalable response to the National Terror Threat Level and/or as a result of risk assessments (formal or informal and either organisational or individual) regarding duties carried out by NSW Sheriff's Officers.

The Office of the Sheriff of NSW is seeking the supply of a Multiuse Integrated Protective Vest (MIPV) for use by all NSW Sheriff's Officers.
