On 15 May 2012, Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian announced the Fixing the Trains Reform Program. The Reform Program includes closing the Taree Boradze Depot by 28 June 2013. Taree Boradze currently supplies timber products to RailCorp.
In April 2013, RailCorp will launch three separate tenders for the timber products, being:
1. Timber sleepers and bearers
2. Timber transoms
3. Timber electrical poles
Submissions from suitably qualified companies and consortiums for any or all of the three tenders will be sought. Multiple year contract terms will be negotiated with the successful tenderers.
The scope of each tender will cover the key requirements of:
. assisting with the physical relocation of the residual inventory from Taree Boradze to an alternate site;
. managing or buying the residual timber products inventory;
. providing value-added services for timber products; and.
. supplying and delivering conforming timber products to RailCorp project sites throughout the Metropolitan and Greater Metropolitan areas of Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains
