Tender Details
The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) is required to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the environmental flows it releases to the downstream reaches of the rivers that make up the Upper Nepean system. The Upper Nepean system comprises the Cataract, Cordeaux, Avon and Nepean rivers downstream as far as the Menangle Weir. With the exception of the Avon River, these rivers are used to transport bulk water for water supply purposes. Thus, in parts of the river system monitoring environmental flows will also necessitate the monitoring of the impacts of the bulk water transfers as there is no way of separating the two.
This component of the SCA’s environmental flows monitoring program for the Upper Nepean system will provide the SCA with sound knowledge about the provision and effectiveness of the environmental flows it releases and how these can be delivered hand-in-hand with the bulk water transfers that are an essential part of the SCA operations.
