Tender Details
The NSW Trains XPT (Xpress Passenger Train) fleet consists of 79 cars (19 power cars and 60 trailer cars) that are maintained at Sydenham Maintenance Centre (SMC). Wheel turning is an existing maintenance activity that is carried out across the XPT fleet due to flange wear and / or wheel defects. The objective of this RFT is to have a supply agreement with a service provider for the provision of wheel turning services.
The wheel lathe facility must:

Have the ability to re profile wheel flanges without removing any wheel set or bogie.

Have the ability to re profile the wheel sets without damaging XPT rolling stock.

Must adhere to:

Australian Standard AS 1940B1993: The Storage and Handling of Flammable and Combustible Liquids

Australian Standard AS 4452B1997: The Storage and Handling of Toxic Substances

Have the ability to move rolling stock to and from drop off points and area for wheel lathe.
- Must have a capacity to take 19T axle load.
