Tender Details
The 28 Endeavour and 23 Xplorer railcars entered service in 1993-1996 and each is fitted with an auxiliary diesel supply module that provides non-traction power for lighting, air conditioning etc. The number of modules is 55, including 4 spares. They are nearing the end of their life cycle and Sydney Trains is examining options for their replacement.
The renewal of the auxiliary diesel supply modules will be a two stage process:
Stage 1: A contract to supply, install and commission one trial auxiliary diesel supply module that will then undergo extensive trials to evaluate its performance and suitability. Sydney Trains may enter into discussions with the supplier to adapt the auxiliary diesel supply module and/or its operation to better suit its requirements. A schedule of this contract will be a contract to be exercised if Sydney Trains chooses (at its sole discretion) to proceed with rolling out the auxiliary diesel supply module into the rest of the fleet.
Stage 2: A contract to roll out of the auxiliary diesel supply modules into the fleet. Included in this contract will be a maintenance option, to be exercised at Sydney Trains sole discretion.
