Tender Details

RailCorp owns an area of land located off Burren Street, Macdonaldtown which formerly operated as a gasworks.

Previous environmental investigations on the site identified the presence of coal by-products including tar, coke and ash throughout the central portion of the site where processing activities were performed. Contaminated fill materials, mainly comprising coke, ash and demolition waste, were also identified in other areas of the site.

RailCorp intends to manage the overall remediation project in two separate phases:

  1. The “Planning Phase” will provide an accurate scoping of the works to be performed. This phase includes a Part 3A Project Approval under the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act), community consultation, geotechnical and heritage assessment works as well as project management services associated with these works.
  2. The “Remediation Phase” will remediate the site and allow the preparation of a Site Audit Statement (SAS) by an EPA Accredited Site Auditor, declaring the site suitable for Commercial/Industrial Use (railway purposes).

This tender (WS8559) relates to the delivery of the Planning Phase.  The Remediation Phase will be conducted in a subsequent tender.
