Transport Asset Holding Entity of New South Wales / Central Station Viaduct Sandstone Restoration Project Documentation - 08/04050

Rail Corporation New South Wales (RailCorp) invites tenders for the inspection and documentation of the viaduct sandstone structure.  The documentation produced will be used subsequently as part of the tender document for the restoration of the sandstone viaduct at Central Station.

Stonework restoration at Sydney Central Station and associated structures commenced in 1985.  Additional repair operations were carried out between 1989 and 2005.  Currently, some repair operations are being carried out on the western side of the station.

Sydney Central Station is listed as a State Heritage Item.  Hence, there is a requirement to conserve the complex.

The Scope of Services includes detailed inspection of the entire viaduct between and including Eddy Avenue and Campbell Street and the preparation of a data base, drawings and documentation for the restoration works to be carried out at a later stage.

In broad terms, the Scope of Services consists of:

§         Detailed inspection of Central Station Viaduct;

§         Provision of all access mediums required to complete these inspections, including scaffold, cranes, scissor lifts and boom lifts as required;

§         Co-ordination of all safe working requirements including traffic management and possessions; and

§         Preparation of detailed documentation, computer data base and technical specification to be used to form the construction tender documentation for the repair and restoration of the Central Station Viaduct.
