Tender Details

The Office of Rail Heritage is seeking proposals from strategic communications and public affairs companies with experience in integrated communication, marketing campaigns, sponsorship, public affairs and stakeholder management to implement the Office of Rail Heritage (RailCorp) Communication Strategy 2008-2010, including the communication requirements for the upgrade of the Rail Heritage Centre at Thirlmere. A key element of the Strategy is RailCorps investment in the upgrade of the Rail Heritage Centre at Thirlmere, in order to accommodate and make accessible to the public the greater part of Governments core rail heritage assets. This will ensure that the States rail heritage is accessible to the public by developing a flagship destination in regional NSW and will complement other rail heritage precincts around NSW. The Centre was established by NSW Rail Transport Museum in 1975. It is an independent, voluntary organisation established in 1962 for the purpose of collecting, preserving, restoring and presenting the railway heritage of New South Wales. NSWRTM also operates a range of day and extended rail tours featuring steam and diesel locomotives and classic passenger carriages from Thirlmere. The Centre is also NSWRTMs maintenance and conservation depot for its operational rolling stock and attracts around 10,000 visitors each year. In January 2007 the Office of Rail Heritage commissioned the development of a concept design for the upgrade of the Rail Heritage Centre. The detailed design for the upgrade is underway with Stage 1 construction to commence in October 2008. The scheduled completion of the project is the end of 2010. The anticipated visitation once the upgraded Centre is open is 50,000.
