It is proposed to replace the existing Hydrovane
TB7 compressor fitted to each Xplorer and Endeavour
car with a unit that will address the problems currently being
experienced.? The problems being
encountered are to do with oil carry over, moisture carry over, length of time
required to service the equipment and parts availability.
A compressor unit from each
of a number of suppliers shall be supplied and trialed (evaluated) in service
over a period of 3 to 6 months. Following the trial period, The
successful Supplier is to provide a unit for installation to each Xplorer and Endeavour car, plus 4 to 6 spares. Supply of
the new units shall include supply of spare parts to support service and
maintenance of the equipment.
Compressor solutions will need to be compatibible
in all respects with the existing pneumatic equipment inclusive of compressor
oil type requirements with the existing pneumatic equipment.
The works shall
constitute Separable Portions as below: -
Separable Portion (SP) 1
The work
included under this RFT is associated with the supply, installation,
modification, adjustment and documentation of a trial compressor unit; the
design and development of prototypes for examination and testing by Railcorp, including the required refinement works.?
Separable Portion 2
The Contractor shall supply the
compressors in accordance with the final designs and specifications. The
successful Contractor is to provide a unit for installation to each Xplorer and Endeavour car.
