PREAMBLE

The overall scope of this project is to design, supply and install a catenary to support leaky feeder cable throughout the Zig Zag section of railway line in the Blue Mountains. The catenary is to be installed from the Sydney end of tunnel 1 through to the Lithgow end of tunnel 10. The total track distance from beginning to end is approximately 4840 metres.

The contractor to undertake the project will be determined from the following three stage process.

Stage 1:

Preferred Tenderers will be selected from this tender process who comply with the evaluation criteria stated in Clause A12 hereof.

Stage 2:

Preferred Tenderers will be requested to submit a Preliminary design which will be assessed to determine the Selected Tenderers who will prepare the detailed design. Preferred Tenderers who were requested to submit their Preliminary design will be paid the lump sum amount quoted in the tender Schedule B2.1, item 1.

Stage 3

The Selected Tenderer will be requested to submit a detailed design for approval. Selected Tenderers who were requested to submit a detailed design will be paid the lump sum amount quoted in the tender Schedule B2.1 item 2. The successful Tenderer will chosen to deliver the project and be paid the lump sum amount in tender Schedule B2.1 items 3 when the catenary is completed and item 4 when the project is complete.

In order to prepare the design, Tenderers will need to inspect the Zig Zag section and should note that the individuals who work within the rail corridor should possess a current Track Safety Awareness Photo ID card and all PPE.

Tenderers are to note that all design work shall be carried out by a panel member listed in Appendix E2.

This Preamble is in summary form to assist Tenderers and must not be relied upon by Tenderers. It is subject to the detailed requirements in PartsA-E of this Request for Tender Document (the "RFT").
