Transport Asset Holding Entity of New South Wales / Pre-Registration of Contractors for Central Station Sandstone Restoration Works - 2007/1206I

PREAMBLE

Rail Corporation New South Wales (RailCorp) is seeking Registration of Interest (ROI) from suitably experienced Contractors for the purpose of pre-qualification of Contractors to carry out sandstone repair and restoration of at Central Station, Sydney.

As part of the ongoing maintenance of the Sydney Terminal Building it has been identified that various facades of the building are deteriorating and therefore in need of restoration. During the financial year 2007-08, it is proposed to carry out repair and restoration of some nominated zones such as Zones R,S,V and X(a, b, c and d). In broad terms the Scope of Services will consist of:-

§Procurement of new sandstone from the stone yard on the outskirts of Sydney and preparation/manufacture of new individual sandstone units at a stone processing plant as per documentation provided,

§ Repair work of existing sandstone units including hairline indents and synthetic repairs,

§ Desalination, lead work and cleaning,

The Pre-Registrant will be required to address the following:

§ Ability to procure new sandstone from the stone yard on the outskirts of Sydney and preparation/manufacture of new sandstone units at a stone processing plant,

§ A methodology for carrying out works at each nominated zone including safety management,

§Details of the key personnel to be deployed on this project,

§ Details of similar projects completed

§ Details of experience working in the rail environment

Following Pre-Registration, RailCorp will pre-qualify up to Six (6) organisations for the works. The successful Registrants will be then invited to tender against a detailed Scope of works for the nominated zones.

This Preamble is in summary form only for the convenience of Registrants and must not be relied upon by Registrants. It is subject to the detailed requirements in Parts A-E of this Request for Information Document (the "RFI"). Without limitation, the proposed scope of work outlined in the RFI may be subject to amendment in accordance with Addenda issued under clause A14 of the Conditions of Pre-Registration.
