Blacktown Council is responsible for the protection and enhancement of the natural environment through the preservation of water quality and promotion of water conservation and re-use. Water should be recognised as a valuable resource and the planning and management of a site be undertaken with regard to water being an asset.
To facilitate cleaner waterways in the Blacktown LGA Council introduced the Environmental Stormwater Management Program in 2007 which is a comprehensive stormwater management program for the Blacktown LGA over the next five years.
Part of this program includes the design, construction and maintenance of stormwater quality improvement devices in key locations around the Blacktown LGA to help prevent gross pollutants from entering receiving waterways.
The objective is to develop a detailed design and construct the most suitable stormwater quality improvement devices to achieve the required target for the reduction in gross pollutant loads entering the receiving waters in the Blacktown LGA.
Blacktown City Council (BCC) is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to develop detailed design and construct stormwater quality improvement devices for the Blacktown LGA. Once constructed the stormwater quality improvement devices will help prevent gross pollutants from entering the local waterways of the Blacktown LGA.
The contract will comprise of a maximum of three (3) months work commencing on Thursday 30 April 2009 and ending Friday 17 July 2009. The services required include the detailed design and construction of stormwater quality improvement devices. The sites include:
· Goroka Street, Whalan Reserve, Whalan.
· Northcott Road, Cavanagh Reserve, Lalor Park.
· Between Jersey Road and Luxford Road at Popondetta Park, Lethbridge Park.
