The Entrance Channel Dredging Ecological Impact Study
In December 2008, the Australian Government approved part funding for the implementation of the Tuggerah Lakes Estuary Management Plan (EMP) through a “Caring for our Country” Grant. As part of the conditions set in the contract by Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, Council must undertake an independent, field-based study into the positive and negative effects of maintaining an open channel at The Entrance. The study is to relate specifically to the direct ecological impacts within the channel zone whilst making general observations of indirect effects that are expected throughout the whole estuary. Council is seeking a suitably qualified consultant to undertake this study. This One-off lump-sum contract is expected to be completed the 25 th September 2009.
